Tell us about a Summer Sermon Series you have preached or will preach this Summer. In a few sentences, describe the focus and goal of your series. Perhaps your ideas will inspire us to think more biblically and creatively about developing a Summer Sermon Series.

We are doing what we call the “Summer Concert Series” at New Journey. We prayed through five key things that we need to do to advance the Kingdom this coming fall. The five are: Develop Spiritual Friendships, Read the Bible, Serve at least once a month, Invest and Invite, and Do the next right thing. (Idea came from Mark Waltz and his book Lasting Impressions.)
I serve a small group of seniors in a senior apartment complex just outside of Rochester, NY. We have been looking a series of firsts this summer:
1. Creation (Gen 1)
2. Creation of man (Gen 1 and 2)
3. The fall and sin (Gen 3)
4. Salvation (Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23, and John 10:10)
5. The Church (Acts? – though specific text not yet chosen)
Our college ministry is doing a 4 part series called “Focus” based on 2 Chronicles 7:14 here is how the series is broken down:
Recognize: Humility – recognizing who we are, who God is, our need for Him
Restore: Prayer as the conversation of restoring our friendship with God
Refocus: Seeking the face of God. refocusing our priorities
Renew: A Life of Repentance
We are doing a series called Stay-cation where we visit a local tourist attractions and prepare a small commentary with video on the attraction. The video leads into a preaching series about God being all around us, as are these attractions. We borrowed the idea from a sister church who had done it last summer.

I LOVE this idea!
Do you happen to post these video-intros anywhere online? I’d love to take a look!
